Not long after a lethally wounded badger was found in a snare in the village of Eben Emael, foresters of the U.A.B. discovered a second badger when checking out the environment in order to prevent new victims. They brought him to the Wildlife Rescue center Opglabbeek where he is receiving the best treatment possible. The reason why this hasn't been made public until today, is because the U.A.B. wanted to catch the game warden responsible for all these snares. And he came clear in a confrontation!

"The badger had been tied down in the snare for a few days already, was suffering from hypothermia and had a long gaping wound across the chest and a smaller wound on the back. The snare was again made of a bicycle brake and the harder the badger tried to escape, the deeper the wound became. It was so bad that at the breastbone you could see where the snare had clamped!"

Verwacht: De Das: beschermde diersoort of juridische verschoppeling?

To be expected: The badger: A protected species or a legal outcast?
Tomorrow an article about the misconception that the Convention of Bern on the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats protects the badger and is against the use of snares while this is described as such in their articles and Appendixes.

3 opmerkingen:
